Hi, I am Asem.
I bring the awesome 😊
My art journey began in the heart of Central Asia, in Almaty, Kazakhstan, where I was born and spent six years studying painting, drawing, and sculpture at Art School. My nomadic soul then took me to the heart of Europe—Prague, Czech Republic—where I immersed myself in graphic design at Teesside University and got my first taste of the advertising world through internships at Leo Burnett Prague and Caspen Jung von Matt. A special thank you to my first mentor, Libor Korman, for his invaluable guidance and support.
I later returned to Almaty to work with the incredible Creative Director Juan Pablo Valencia at TBWA\Almaty. Together, we won a Clio Award, and our print was featured in Lürzer’s Archive. One of the highlights of my career was becoming a Young Lions winner in the Print category at the prestigious Cannes Lions Festival in France, where I competed with the best creatives from around the world.
Last year, I collaborated with the talented team at Tidam on impactful projects, including a campaign for the United Nations, and we won multiple awards, such as the Epica, White Square, and Jolbors Festival Awards.
Now, I’m pursuing my Master’s degree at Rutgers’ Mason Gross School of the Arts, the heart of creativity, where I’m diving into experimental design with a focus on UI/UX. My work explores feminism and the experiences of women in design, examining what it means to be a woman designer today. Through my lens, I aim to reach out to the world and contribute to a broader conversation on women’s perspectives in design.
Let’s make something awesome together! 🌟
